The National Symposium on Avian Biology (NSAB 2026), held alongside the 7th Meeting of the Association of Avian Biologists in India (AABI), will take place at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Shalimar Srinagar (SKUAST-Kashmir), Srinagar, J&K, India, from 14–16 May 2026.
NSAB 2026 brings together researchers, ornithologists, conservation practitioners, and students to examine advances in bird ecology, evolution, behaviour, and conservation science. It provides a national platform for presenting research, fostering collaboration, and addressing emerging challenges in biodiversity conservation under environmental change.
The programme spans multiple scales—from molecular processes to landscape-level patterns—linking fundamental inquiry with applied conservation. Set in the Kashmir Himalaya, the symposium highlights mountain and wetland ecosystems, where steep environmental gradients shape species distributions, movement, and persistence. Contributions will engage with data-intensive ecology, genomics, behavioural research, and the practical challenges of conserving birds in dynamic habitats.
NSAB 2026 also promotes collaboration across institutions and sectors, bringing together universities, research organisations, and conservation groups. Interactive sessions and thematic discussions are designed to encourage exchange, strengthen networks, and catalyse new research directions.
The symposium offers an opportunity to engage with contemporary questions in avian science within rapidly changing ecological contexts.
